Curious to know what happens when a grandmother turns her phone off?
I never was. Until yesterday…
At 2:54pm, Tiffany [little sister] called. During her work hours. On a Thursday. That doesn’t happen. Well…that doesn’t normally happen…unless there’s an emergency.
I answered immediately.
“Can you pull Mom up on FindMyFriends? It says she’s at her house, but I am standing here, her Jeep is in the garage, the door is blocked, I have been banging on the door, and she is not answering. I’m worried… call me back.”. **CLICK**
Immediately, I did as instructed. I found Mom on FindMyFriends, …at home… I sent the screenshot to Tiffany, and called her back.
“It says she is at home… Give me a second, I am pulling up Life360 now [yes, I utilize two tracking apps on my family, and need ZERO judgement from you… This event confirmed my OCD and paranoia are correct – I NEED two tracking devices!!]. Life360 says she is on Marseille Drive????”
Confused, Tiffany informed me she was calling Papa Mike. **CLICK**
As I processed the fact ‘the sweet sister‘ had just hung up on me, TWICE, I opened a new browser tab.
My fingers quickly started typing… Marseille Drive. Google Earth. Maps. Aerial View. Locate last known ‘ping’. Submit ’emergency ping’. Submit ’emergency ping’. Submit ’emergency ping’. Submit ’emergency ping’. [Yes, I may have gone a little over the top, but come on… IT’S MY MOMMA!!] Street view. Locate address from mailbox. Confirm home address with numbers on the front door. Locate home owner. Confirm owner is at address. Locate full file of owner records. Locate home owner home phone number, cell phone number, and email addresses.
**submit screenshots of information to Tiffany
**start auto-dial of all six phone numbers located
**start auto-text campaign to all six phone numbers located
**submit email to email located
Call Tiffany.
“Hey, I just submitted the address of her last confirmed location. I also sent an aerial view and street view of the home for your reference. I am in process of calling the home owner phone numbers now.”.
Tiffany: “Received – I’m on the way to that address.”.
I waited, not so patiently…
Tiffany called back. ”I have her, and she’s fine. She rode with a friend to another friend’s house, and turned her phone off. I’ll call you later.”. **CLICK**
Between a sigh of relief, and immediate irritation that she hung up on me, AGAIN… I sent a group text message to her and Mom:
Mom should be apologizing
Keep that phone on, woman!!
Or don’t… Pip and I will get to meet every single one of your new friends…
Pip, here’s my code to join Life360
